Bangladeshi Engineer Develops Intelligent Systems for Earth and Space Safety
Nafis Mohammad Nayeem is advancing technologies for hazard detection and risk mitigation in severe weather and space debris. His efforts aim to enhance the reliability of autonomous systems in both aviation and orbital environments.

Nafis Mohammad Nayeem is developing intelligent systems aimed at detecting hazards on Earth and in space, focusing on tornadoes and orbital debris. His master's research at Oklahoma State University, funded by NASA, involved using drones for tornado structure estimation and wind mapping.
Nayeem's work combines artificial intelligence with flight equations to enhance aircraft reliability in adverse conditions, impacting civil aviation and disaster response. He co-authored a study on orbital debris collection using lightweight aerogel, essential for satellite protection.
Currently pursuing a Ph.D. with funding from the U.S. Office of Naval Research, he is also advancing swarmed navigation for autonomous vehicles, emphasizing cooperative operation in complex environments. This research has significant implications for emergency response, satellite communications, and national defense.
