Riyad Rashid, aged 28, died on May 2 during a drone strike near the Russia-controlled border in Ukraine. His family reported he was part of the Russian army after joining in April 2026, following his arrival in Russia on December 8, 2024, for employment with 'China Sinopec.'
Reports indicate two other Bangladeshis and one Nigerian soldier were also killed in the attack, with three injured. Riyad's father was unaware of his military enlistment, expressing profound grief over the loss. Local officials are exploring potential government assistance for the family amidst these developments.
