BASF Launches Commercial Production of Flame-Retardant Elastollan TPU in Shanghai
BASF has commenced commercial production of Elastollan® Flame-Retardant TPU in Shanghai, enhancing supply for EV cables and industrial robotics. This local production aims to reduce lead times and support the evolving needs of the Asia-Pacific cable industry, particularly for high-power charging infrastructure and specialized components.

BASF has started commercial production of its Elastollan® Flame-Retardant (FR) TPU at its Shanghai site, completing a local portfolio that includes Halogen-free Flame-Retardant (FHF) grades. This localization reduces lead times and supports the Asia-Pacific cable industry amid the growth of EV charging infrastructure and industrial robotics.
The new FR grade is designed for stringent applications, providing high-efficiency flame retardancy and mechanical durability. Local production facilitates faster response to regional market needs and meets compliance standards for the Chinese and Asia-Pacific markets.
