Batam Data Center Investments Surpass Rp120 Trillion, Major AI Center Planned
Batam's data center investments have exceeded Rp120 trillion, with a significant AI Data Centre project from EGSB/Range IDC valued at Rp88 trillion. This project is expected to require approximately 580 megawatts of power at full capacity, reflecting a shift towards digital infrastructure and the need for skilled labor in the region.

Investments in Batam's data centers have surpassed Rp120 trillion, highlighted by the EGSB/Range IDC AI Data Centre, which is valued at Rp88 trillion and will be developed in three phases from 2027 to 2030. The project will necessitate around 580 megawatts of electricity upon reaching full capacity.
Additional investments, such as those from Princeton Digital Group at Rp15 trillion, indicate a growing focus on digital infrastructure. Local workforce development is critical, with an anticipated need for 700 to 800 professionals. However, post-construction automation may reduce overall labor demand, underscoring the importance of preparing local talent for new opportunities.
