Battery Age Minerals Seeks Exploration in Carinthia, Austria Amid Local Opposition
Battery Age Minerals is planning exploratory drilling for lead and rare metals in Carinthia, Austria, facing local resistance. The project may impact local resources and community sentiment significantly.

Battery Age Minerals has announced plans for exploratory drilling in Bad Bleiberg, Austria, targeting a historical zinc-lead-germanium mining area over 142 square kilometers. The project, termed 'Project Bleiberg Zinc Lead,' involves drilling three boreholes down to 299 meters.
A year ago, the Montanbehörde granted permission for exploration, but local residents, led by shoemaker Josef Götz, have voiced strong opposition, citing concerns over deforestation and water use. The company has yet to finalize agreements with landowners and plans to clear 41,000 square meters before drilling. Local objections can still be submitted until the end of June.
