Baykar to Invest in Piaggio Aerospace's P.180 Avanti Following Acquisition
Baykar acquired Piaggio Aerospace, rebranding it as Baykar Piaggio Aerospace, and plans to invest in the P.180 Avanti aircraft. The company aims to improve maintenance support, spare part availability, and production numbers.
The Italian Air Force has received three of 15 planned P.180 Avanti EVO+ aircraft, which feature enhancements for military use. Baykar plans to increase production from four to 25-30 aircraft annually by next year.
Upgrades include Garmin avionics, new interior designs, and improved environmental systems. Piaggio has produced over 250 P.180 airframes since 1986, with 220 currently in service. The company also plans to establish a logistics center in the U.S., its largest market.
