B.C. Allocates $6.6M for Clean Energy Projects in 13 Remote First Nations
British Columbia is investing $6.6 million in 13 remote First Nations to reduce diesel dependency through clean energy projects. The funding is part of the Community Energy Diesel Reduction Program under the CleanBC strategy. Major allocations include $870,000 for a solar-power project in Xeni Gwet'in, $1.5 million for a solar project in Tsay Keh Dene, and $1.1 million for a solar plant in Ulkatcho. The program has funded $30 million for 56 projects in 26 communities since 2022.
