BC Budget Allocates Funds for Mental Health and Crime Reduction in Prince George
The BC provincial budget announced on February 17 includes $131 million for mental health and addictions services in Prince George, focusing on Assertive Community Treatment teams and involuntary treatment beds. The budget also allocates $139 million over three years for justice and crime-reduction programs, such as $16 million for the Chronic Property Offending Intervention Initiative.
The province anticipates generating $1.93 billion in revenues from natural resources in 2026-27, predominantly from natural gas royalties, with expected annual growth of 18.6% driven by increased production and prices. Mining and forestry revenues are also projected to rise significantly in the coming years.
