B.C. Launches $1.7M Clean Technology Pilot Projects at Port of Prince Rupert
The Port of Prince Rupert is launching over $1.7 million in clean technology pilot projects, backed by Innovate BC's Integrated Marketplaces initiative. Key projects include a hydrogen-fueling station by Hydra Energy, an unmanned surface vessel for marine monitoring from Open Ocean Robotics, and a data-acquisition system on a short-haul truck by Nuport Robotics, all aimed at decarbonization and enhancing productivity. These efforts are part of B.C.'s Look West plan to support job creation and industry growth.

The Port of Prince Rupert is hosting clean technology pilot projects worth over $1.7 million, supported by the Integrated Marketplaces initiative from Innovate BC. Partners include Nuport Robotics, Open Ocean Robotics, and Hydra Energy, focusing on dual-use technologies for clean growth and defense.
A $1 million project by Hydra Energy and the Prince Rupert Port Authority will develop a hydrogen-fueling station and test low-emission vehicles to aid in decarbonization efforts. Open Ocean Robotics will deploy a $409,000 unmanned surface vessel for safer marine monitoring, while Nuport Robotics will implement a $306,000 data-acquisition system on a short-haul truck to reduce emissions and enhance productivity. These initiatives align with B.C.'s Look West plan to bolster jobs and industry.
