DEFENSE

Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) has secured a contract from the Naval Science and Technological Laboratory (NSTL) under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) for an advanced Aquatic-Aerial System that integrates unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) capabilities. BDL won the contract with a bid of ₹69,15,272, positioning it to lead the prototyping and integration phases with NSTL.

The system is designed for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions, featuring stealth attributes and advanced sonar imaging systems for underwater operations. Communication includes acoustic modems, UHF, C-band, and SATCOM.

The project supports India's Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, enhancing the Indian Navy's operational flexibility amid rising maritime threats in the Indian Ocean Region. BDL's selection underscores its expanding role in unmanned systems and effective public-private collaboration in defence R&D.
