Belarus Plans Defense Capability Strengthening and Border Security for 2026-2030
Belarus has outlined key defense priorities for the next five years, focusing on enhancing defense capabilities as part of the Program of Social and Economic Development for 2026-2030. Deputy State Secretary of the Belarusian Security Council, Aleksandr Neverovsky, highlighted two key indicators for defense enhancement: increasing the domestic production share of weaponry and military equipment in state defense procurement to 50% or more and boosting investment in military production by at least 30%.
The plan also emphasizes border security, with five new border outposts commissioned in 2025 and modern equipment provided to border guards. The president has approved a decision on border security priorities for 2026, addressing geopolitical challenges and airspace protection. Regular inspections of military units are being conducted to ensure combat readiness.
