Belarus Plans Defense Capability Strengthening and Border Security for 2026-2030
Belarus has announced a five-year defense strategy for 2026-2030, focusing on increasing domestic production of military equipment to at least 50% and boosting investment in military production by 30%. The plan also includes enhancing border security with the commissioning of five new outposts and upgrading equipment for border guards, while regular inspections of military units will ensure combat readiness.

Belarus has outlined key defense priorities for the next five years, focusing on enhancing defense capabilities as part of the Program of Social and Economic Development for 2026-2030. Deputy State Secretary of the Belarusian Security Council, Aleksandr Neverovsky, highlighted two key indicators for defense enhancement: increasing the domestic production share of weaponry and military equipment in state defense procurement to 50% or more and boosting investment in military production by at least 30%.
The plan also emphasizes border security, with five new border outposts commissioned in 2025 and modern equipment provided to border guards. The president has approved a decision on border security priorities for 2026, addressing geopolitical challenges and airspace protection. Regular inspections of military units are being conducted to ensure combat readiness.
