Belize Launches $10M Solar Water Security Project for Rural Communities
Belize initiates a $10 million climate adaptation project to enhance water security using solar energy in rural areas. The SEAM initiative aims to support over 1,800 residents across four communities as climate impacts escalate.

In October 2025, Belize initiated a $10 million project aimed at improving water security through solar energy and innovative management in rural areas. The SEAM initiative will benefit the communities of Boom Creek, Dolores, Otoxha, and Copper Bank by enhancing access to reliable water for over 1,800 residents.
Funded by the Adaptation Fund, the project allocates $5 million over four years and integrates solar technology with ecosystem restoration and sustainable livelihoods. This initiative could significantly strengthen resilience against climate change and improve living conditions for vulnerable populations.
