On October 20, 2025, Bell Textron, the Ukrainian Ministry of Economy, Ecology, and Agriculture, and UkraineInvest signed letters of intent for the potential acquisition of AH-1Z Viper and UH-1Y Venom helicopters. This initiative aims to enhance Ukraine's defense capabilities by establishing a framework for assembly, maintenance, and local production of the aircraft, which are currently operated by the U.S.
Marine Corps. If approved, Bell would work with the U.S. Government under a Foreign Military Sale program to supply the aircraft.
The Viper, priced at $35 million, offers significant advantages over the $52 million Apache, including faster speed and the ability to carry advanced weaponry. The agreement also includes plans for a Final Assembly and Check-Out center in Ukraine, with training for Ukrainian personnel. This partnership represents a significant defense cooperation opportunity for Ukraine.
