BETA Technologies Develops ALIA MV250 Hybrid Electric Aircraft for Military Logistics with GE Aerospace

DEFENSE

BETA Technologies is developing the ALIA MV250, a hybrid electric aircraft designed for military logistics, supported by over $100 million from the US Air Force's AFWERX Agility Prime Program. GE Aerospace is collaborating with BETA, investing $300 million to create a turbogenator based on the CT7 engine series to enhance the aircraft's operational range in contested environments.

The ALIA MV250 is an unmanned system optimized for autonomous transport, capable of carrying up to 2,000 lbs (approximately 900 kg) of cargo. This hybrid architecture aims to overcome the limitations of pure battery systems, enabling significant increases in speed and payload.

The projected range exceeds 1,000 nautical miles, expanding operational capabilities beyond short distances. BETA is also adapting its technologies for the DARPA Manta Ray Program, collaborating with General Dynamics to apply aviation-developed systems to unmanned underwater vehicles.
