Bharat Dynamics Limited to Expand Missile Manufacturing and R&D for India's Defence Self-Reliance

Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) is enhancing its missile manufacturing capabilities and R&D investments to support India's defence sector. Under the leadership of Commodore A Madhavarao, BDL aims to establish new facilities in Jhansi, Ibrahimpatnam, and Amravati to produce Surface-to-Air Missiles (SAMs) and advanced systems.

The company is integrating Industry 4.0 technologies to increase productivity and reduce costs. BDL is significantly increasing its R&D spending, targeting 6-8% of revenue to drive innovation and product diversification.

Key areas of focus include developing next-generation weaponry, including new SAMs and underwater systems, and collaborating with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) for indigenous technologies. BDL aims for an indigenous content of 80-90% in its products, emphasizing self-reliance in defence manufacturing as part of India's Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
