Bishkek Introduces 95 New CNG Buses as Part of €33 Million Urban Mobility Upgrade
Bishkek is modernizing its public transport with the introduction of 95 new compressed natural gas (CNG) buses, part of a €33 million initiative supported by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The program aims to replace an aging diesel fleet and improve accessibility, safety, and environmental standards, aligning with Bishkek's Green Cities action plan. This fleet renewal is expected to reduce maintenance costs and enhance service reliability while contributing to cleaner urban transport in the city.

Bishkek has launched a fleet of 95 new compressed natural gas (CNG) buses under a €33 million program financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). This initiative is part of a larger plan to introduce 219 vehicles aimed at enhancing urban mobility, reducing emissions, and improving service standards.
The new buses feature low-entry designs for accessibility, digital systems for passenger information, and safety enhancements. This project aligns with Bishkek's Green Cities action plan and is expected to improve the efficiency of public transport while addressing air quality issues in the city. The EBRD has been involved in the Kyrgyz Republic since 1992, focusing on urban infrastructure development.
