Bodo-Bonny Road Project Resumes Construction After Delays in Nigeria
Construction of the Bodo-Bonny Road project in Rivers State, Nigeria, has resumed following a new funding agreement between the Federal Government, Nigeria LNG, and Julius Berger Nigeria Plc. After facing delays due to engineering challenges and rising costs, the project has now officially opened to light vehicles, with plans for heavy truck access upon completion. The Federal Executive Council's approval of a cost increase has allowed full construction to proceed.

The Bodo-Bonny Road project in Rivers State, Nigeria, was revived after a tripartite funding arrangement was established between the Federal Government, Nigeria LNG (NLNG), and Julius Berger Nigeria Plc. Following initial limited progress, full construction commenced, which includes major bridges over challenging terrains.
However, the project faced delays due to engineering complexities, funding gaps, inflation, and design changes, leading to a significant upward review of costs. After the Federal Executive Council approved a cost increase, construction resumed at full pace. The road has been officially opened to light vehicles, marking a significant milestone after years of isolation, with unrestricted access for heavy trucks expected upon project completion.
