Boeing Awarded $266 Million Contract for C-17 Flight Deck Replacement by USAF
The U.S. Air Force has awarded Boeing a $266 million contract to replace the flight deck of the C-17 Globemaster III, focusing on redesigning obsolete avionics systems. The contract, effective through 2031, addresses four critical Line Replaceable Units, with concerns that spares for these components will be depleted by fiscal year 2028.

The U.S. Air Force has awarded Boeing a $266 million sole source contract to replace the flight deck of the C-17 Globemaster III, effective through 2031. This contract aims to redesign avionics using commercial systems to address four obsolete Line Replaceable Units (LRUs): the Multifunction Display (MFD), Core Integrated Processor (CIP), Video Integrated Processor (VIP), and Standby Engine Display (SED). The project is critical as the USAF projects that spares for these LRUs will run out by fiscal year 2028.
