Boeing Secures $2B Contract for B-52 Engine Upgrades in San Antonio
Boeing has been awarded a $2 billion contract by the U.S. Air Force to produce new Rolls-Royce engines for the B-52 Stratofortress at its Port San Antonio facility, with project completion anticipated by 2033. This initiative aims to improve the aircraft's reliability and operational capabilities, while additional work will be conducted in Oklahoma City and Seattle. The upgraded B-52H will be reclassified as the B-52J, following previous radar system enhancements worth $367 million.

Work will also occur in Oklahoma City and Seattle. Boeing previously received a $367 million contract for radar system upgrades. The B-52H, in service since 1961, will be designated as the new B-52J following upgrades.
