Bolivar Peninsula Vision Nonprofit Advances Environmental and Economic Projects
Bolivar Peninsula Vision, a newly formed nonprofit, is progressing on projects focused on environmental preservation, economic development, education, housing solutions, and job creation. The organization has filed a beach nourishment permit for the entire 27-mile shoreline, collaborating with the U.S.
Army Corps of Engineers and TxDOT, which dredges and recovers beach-quality sand. The next step involves hiring an engineering firm to complete the permit process, which will cost over $300,000 and take approximately 18 months.
Funding will be sought through the Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act (GOMESA), with support from Commissioner Joe Giusti. Additionally, the nonprofit aims to develop baseball fields to attract tourism, potentially bringing 1,700 to 3,000 visitors per event. Bolivar Peninsula Vision is also working with educational institutions to enhance learning opportunities and welcomes community involvement for project support.
