Boston Children's Museum Launches Flood Resiliency Project with $7 Million Donation
Boston Children's Museum is set to begin Phase 1 of its Flood Resiliency Plan this summer, supported by a $7 million donation from New Balance. The project aims to safeguard the Museum and adjacent areas from future flooding, serving as a model for similar initiatives in Boston.

Boston Children's Museum will initiate Phase 1 of its Flood Resiliency Plan in July, backed by $14.6 million raised over two years, including a $7 million donation from New Balance. The project aims to enhance protection against flooding, benefiting the Museum's historic structure and the Fort Point neighborhood.
Following severe storms in 2018, the Museum formed a task force to create a comprehensive Waterfront Masterplan that includes various protective measures. The Landmarks Commission has approved the plan, which is expected to offer flood protection for at least two decades.
Integration with the Army Corps of Engineers' studies on harbor protection is anticipated for future phases. This initiative may inspire other cultural institutions to pursue similar resilience strategies.
