Boston Dynamics Partners with Google DeepMind to Enhance Atlas Humanoid with AI
Boston Dynamics has partnered with Google DeepMind to enhance its Atlas humanoid robot with advanced artificial intelligence. The partnership was announced at CES 2026 in Las Vegas and aims to enable Atlas to perform a variety of industrial tasks, particularly in the automotive sector.
The research collaboration will begin in the coming months at both companies. Boston Dynamics plans to commercialize the humanoid robot in 2024, leveraging advances in AI. Google DeepMind is developing the Gemini Robotics AI model, which will allow robots to perceive, reason, and interact with humans. Hyundai Motor Group, Boston Dynamics' majority shareholder, plans to utilize these robots in its manufacturing facilities and has announced a $26 billion investment in U.S. operations, including a new factory to produce 30,000 robots annually.
