Boston Launches Voting Phase for $2.2 Million Participatory Budgeting Initiative 'Ideas in Action'

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu announced the voting phase of the participatory budgeting initiative 'Ideas in Action', allowing residents to decide on the allocation of $2.2 million for community projects until February 15, 2026. Over 1,200 ideas were collected in summer 2025, leading to proposals developed through five community forums in fall 2025.

Key projects on the ballot include: Neighborhood Fresh Food Access Initiative ($500,000), Immigrant Legal Defense Fund ($400,000), Immigrant Career Pathways ($300,000), Small Business Development Resource Program ($250,000), Healing Through Art ($300,000), Housing Stability Assistance ($200,000), and Senior Caregiver Resources ($200,000). Additionally, initiatives such as rental assistance for at-risk youth and installation of benches at bus stops are in progress, with funding aimed at enhancing community resources and support.
