BPCL's Mozambique LNG Project Reaches 42% Completion Post Force Majeure
BPCL's Mozambique LNG project is now 42% complete, with a workforce of over 6,000 on-site following the lifting of force majeure in November 2025. The $20 billion project, operated by TotalEnergies, is part of India's strategy to diversify energy sources and enhance LNG supply capabilities.

The Mozambique LNG project, with BPCL holding a 10% stake via Bharat PetroResources Ltd, has achieved approximately 42% completion. Following the lifting of force majeure in November 2025, over 6,000 personnel are currently active at the site.
The project is located in Offshore Area 1 Concession and involves an estimated investment of $20 billion, with consortium partners ONGC Videsh Ltd and Oil India Ltd. BPCL's ongoing efforts to diversify supply sources align with India's transition to a gas-based economy. The project is anticipated to enhance global LNG supply, addressing the demand surge in India amid current energy market volatility.
