BP's Azule Energy Begins Gas Production at Angola's Quiluma Field
BP's joint venture Azule Energy has commenced gas production at the Quiluma field in Angola, part of the New Gas Consortium. This marks Angola's first non-associated gas project, aiming to boost the country's role in the global gas market. Initial output is projected at 150 million standard cubic feet per day, increasing to 330 million by the end of 2026. The project integrates with the Angola LNG facility, enhancing gas supply reliability and reducing flaring.

BP's Azule Energy has initiated gas production from the Quiluma field in Angola, marking the country's first non-associated gas project under the New Gas Consortium. Initial production is expected at 150 million standard cubic feet (mmscf) per day, ramping up to 330 mmscf per day by the end of 2026.
The gas will be processed onshore before being sent to the Angola LNG plant for export. The project aims to diversify Angola's energy sector, traditionally reliant on associated gas. The New Gas Consortium includes partners Cabinda Gulf Oil Company, Sonangol, and TotalEnergies, with Azule Energy holding a 37.4% interest. This development aligns with BP's broader goal of delivering 10 major project start-ups globally by 2027.
