Brazil and Bolivia Strengthen Ties with Focus on Trade, Energy, and Infrastructure
Brazilian President Lula da Silva and Bolivian President Rodrigo Paz discussed enhancing regional integration and bilateral relations during a meeting in Brasilia. Lula noted a decline in trade between the nations, from $5.5 billion in 2013 to $2.6 billion last year, and outlined initiatives to boost business engagement.
Key projects include a second cross-border bridge over the Mamore River and expanded natural gas exports through the Brazil-Bolivia Gas Pipeline. They also addressed agreements on electricity interconnection and renewable energy cooperation, alongside a new tourism framework. Lula regarded Bolivia's entry into Mercosur as a historic step toward regional unity.
