Brazil Grants First Reforestation Concession to Re.green for Amazon Restoration
The Brazilian government has auctioned its first public land concession for reforestation to startup Re.green, which plans to restore 145,000 acres in the Bom Futuro reserve using carbon credits. Re.green will share 0.7% of its anticipated $2 million annual revenue from carbon credits. The initiative, which includes collaboration with the Karitiana Indigenous community, aims to combat deforestation and climate change while targeting the reforestation of 30 million acres by 2030.

Brazil has awarded its inaugural public land concession for reforestation to startup Re.green, which aims to restore 145,000 acres in the Bom Futuro reserve using carbon credits. Re.green, the only bidder, will receive 0.7% of revenue from carbon credits, projected at $2 million annually.
The project will involve the Karitiana Indigenous community. This initiative responds to climate change and deforestation pressures in the Amazon and is part of Brazil's broader goal to reforest 30 million acres by 2030. The government plans to offer 750,000 acres under this model by 2027, with 3.2 million acres mapped for restoration.
