Brazil's Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation has launched a BRL300 million funding program to enhance the local defence industry and minimize dependence on foreign technology. This funding is part of a BRL3.3 billion package approved on February 6 under the 'More Innovation Brazil' initiative.
The program aims for 50% autonomy in critical defence technology production and supports projects at technology readiness levels 3 to 8. Eligible areas include unmanned systems, robotics, cyber security, and nuclear technologies. Companies must be accredited as Strategic Defense Companies to apply.
