Brazilian Navy Commissions F Tamandaré Frigate; Plans for Additional Ships
The Brazilian Navy commissioned its first Tamandaré-class frigate, F Tamandaré (F200), on 24 April, with plans for four more. This initiative is part of Brazil's strategy to enhance naval capabilities through indigenous shipbuilding and advanced technology partnerships.

On 24 April, Brazil's Navy commissioned the F Tamandaré (F200) at the Naval Base of Rio de Janeiro. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed with Embraer and TKMS to explore acquiring four more Tamandaré-class frigates, which will feature upgraded capabilities.
The timeline for finalizing the contract is undetermined as negotiations are ongoing. The F Tamandaré is equipped with advanced weaponry, including a Leonardo OTO 76 mm gun, a Rheinmetall SeaSnake 30 mm system, and the MBDA Sea Ceptor air defense system. This advancement underscores Brazil's focus on strengthening its naval defense through locally built assets.
