Brazil's Renewable Energy Landscape in 2026: Investments and Innovations
Brazil is poised for significant advancements in renewable energy, attracting up to USD 18 billion for green hydrogen projects and maintaining a remarkable 84.6% share of renewables in its electricity generation. The country is set to meet COP28 goals, bolstered by a robust regulatory framework and strategic international partnerships.

As of January 2026, Brazil's large-scale generation capacity reached 215.9 GW, with renewables accounting for 84.6%. The Pecém Green Hydrogen Hub is key in attracting investments of up to USD 18 billion, supported by World Bank financing.
Offshore wind potential exceeds 1,200 GW, with over 104 projects under review, while the country aims to supply 40% of Europe’s green hydrogen demand by 2040. Petrobras has initiated offshore wind projects and allocated USD 16.3 billion for energy transition initiatives within its 2025-2029 plan.
However, Brazil’s energy market must overcome challenges such as grid infrastructure and curtailment issues. Potential growth in carbon credit demand could reach 530% post-2030, impacting investment strategies.
