Brig. Gen. Robert Born Visits Picatinny Arsenal to Discuss Army Transformation and Armaments Innovation
Brig. Gen. Robert Born, the new commanding general of U.S.
Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM), visited Picatinny Arsenal on August 7, marking his first visit since taking command in June. His visit follows a modernization campaign aimed at overhauling the Army's structure and technology for contemporary warfare.
Born met with Chris Grassano, Director of the DEVCOM Armaments Center, which plays a crucial role in the Army Transformation Initiative (ATI) as the primary R&D center for armament systems. He toured facilities focusing on technologies for uncrewed aerial systems (UAS) and counter-UAS capabilities.
The Army plans to introduce long-range missiles, modernized UAS, and close capability gaps in drone technology. Born also visited the Davidson Advanced Warhead Facility and the Explosive Development Facility, which conduct critical testing and experimentation for the Army and its partners.
