BritENERGY Invests in U.S. Permian Basin, Exits UK Market
BritENERGY Group is reallocating its investment from the UK to the U.S. by acquiring a controlling interest in 13 wells in New Mexico's Permian basin, citing unfavorable UK energy policies. The company targets 5 MMbbl production by 2032 and anticipates $200 million in profit from this $50 million investment.

BritENERGY Group has acquired a controlling interest in 13 oil and gas wells over 3,000 acres in New Mexico's Permian basin. This investment includes five producing wells and aims for a production target of 5 million barrels by 2032, generating an estimated $200 million in profit.
The capital investment for this acquisition is approximately $50 million, and the company is also planning a 300-MW solar development at the site. BritENERGY's shift follows growing concerns about the investment climate in the UK, as highlighted by bp's divestment from the North Sea and criticism from industry leaders. The company also sees potential in Morocco for natural gas ventures, indicating a strategic pivot towards more favorable investment environments.
