Brooklyn SolarWorks Installs NYC's First Residential Battery Energy Storage System with Briggs & Stratton
Brooklyn SolarWorks has installed New York City's first residential battery energy storage system in Chinatown, utilizing the Briggs & Stratton AccESS system. This project marks a significant advancement in the city's clean energy landscape and assists in developing a new permitting framework for residential energy storage. After nearly eight years of collaboration, the installation is poised to enhance energy independence and grid stability for homeowners.

Brooklyn SolarWorks has completed the installation of New York City's first residential battery energy storage system (BESS) in Chinatown. This project features a 19.6 kilowatt-hour Briggs & Stratton AccESS system, the only residential storage system approved for rooftop installation in the city.
Following nearly eight years of collaboration with city agencies, including the Fire Department of New York (FDNY), this project represents a milestone in navigating the city's permitting challenges. The BESS enhances homeowners' energy independence and contributes to grid stability by allowing residents to manage their energy needs effectively. This initiative lays the groundwork for future BESS installations across the five boroughs.
