DEFENSE

The Bulgarian Ministry of Innovation and Growth plans to allocate approximately €310 million in 2026 for technological modernization of businesses through the Competitiveness and Innovation in Enterprises Program. Investments will focus on enhancing industrial capacity and promoting clean, resource-efficient technologies.

A key measure with a budget of €70.6 million will support companies producing defense or dual-use products, enabling investments in advanced technology such as high-performance computers and drones. Additionally, a €96.3 million measure launched in January aims to support new production models, particularly in Northern Bulgaria.

Other initiatives include €28.6 million for local initiatives and €30 million for clean technology development. The ministry also plans to provide nearly €83 million for purchasing machinery and software to optimize resource use. In 2025, Bulgaria received €4 billion in European funds through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.
