Bundeswehr's Skyranger 30 Air-Defence System to Achieve Operational Capability by 2029
The German Army's Skyranger 30 air-defence system is set to achieve initial operational capability by 2027 and full capability by 2029, with deployment planned in Lithuania for the Panzerbrigade 45. The system includes a 30 mm gun, Stinger missiles, and advanced sensors, while Rheinmetall will also produce four versions of the Caracal 4×4 vehicle for Germany and the Netherlands, with an initial production of 1,505 units starting in 2025.

The German Army's Skyranger 30 air-defence system will achieve initial operational capability in 2027 and full capability in 2029. The Bundeswehr received a prototype in 2025, with serial deliveries planned for 2027-2028.
The system will be deployed to Lithuania for air defence of Panzerbrigade 45. It features a 30 mm gun, surface-to-air missiles including Stingers, and advanced sensors. Additionally, Rheinmetall is producing four versions of the Caracal 4×4 vehicle for Germany and the Netherlands under a contract signed in July 2023, valued at up to EUR1.9 billion. Initial production of 1,505 vehicles is set at an annual rate of 300, beginning in 2025.
