Bureau Veritas and Straits Bio-LNG Form Strategic Alliance for Bio-Methane Liquefaction in Malaysia
Bureau Veritas (BV) Malaysia and Straits Bio-LNG Pte Ltd have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a strategic alliance aimed at developing an ISCC EU-certified sustainable bio-methane liquefaction facility in Muar, Malaysia. The project, initiated in July 2024, is expected to be operational by the end of 2027, addressing the growing shipping demand for bio-LNG.
The partnership focuses on ensuring sustainability and regulatory compliance across Straits Bio-LNG's supply chain. BV Malaysia and Straits Bio-LNG will implement a comprehensive framework for ISCC EU compliance, promoting higher certification standards in the market. Straits Bio-LNG targets an annual production goal of 250,000 tonnes of bio-LNG, utilizing sustainable biomass resources such as Empty Fruit Bunch and Palm Oil Mill Effluent, in line with the EU's Renewable Energy Directive.
