Burkina Faso's President Emphasizes Economies of Scale for Economic Growth by 2026
Captain Ibrahim Traore, President of Burkina Faso, announced that 2025 will be pivotal for the Burkinabe economy, focusing on economies of scale in key sectors. In his end-of-year address, he highlighted infrastructure construction through local means, particularly in agriculture, defense, and public works, as a method to reduce costs and optimize public resource use.
He pointed to ongoing initiatives in the energy and water sectors aimed at pooling investments to enhance national capacity and improve access to basic services. This economic strategy is aligned with strengthening economic sovereignty through digital financial management, combating fraud, and implementing certified electronic invoicing. Traore projected that by 2026, continued economies of scale and direct resource exploitation would significantly boost GDP and support the emergence of a resilient Burkinabe economy focused on endogenous development.
