Bushmills Through the Wars (BTTW) has submitted an application for the Portballintrae Air Force Memorial near Runkerry Beach to honor six airmen who died in a 1943 plane crash. The memorial will feature two granite pieces detailing the incident and names of the deceased.

The site overlooks the crash location and is situated on a former Cold War platform. Community support includes letters from local associations and officials. The proposal will be reviewed by the Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council on January 20.
