Cameroon Governors Discuss Security and Economic Projects in Yaoundé Meeting

The governors of Cameroon’s ten regions met in Yaoundé for their first semi-annual conference of 2019, chaired by Minister of Territorial Administration Paul Atanga Nji. The meeting focused on enhancing security for individuals and property, with governors presenting regional security situations, economic project developments, and social issues.

Presentations included insights from the General Delegate for National Security and the Secretary of State for Defense regarding law enforcement responsibilities. The Minister of Public Works discussed road maintenance support measures, while the Minister of Public Service reviewed the functioning of regional disciplinary councils.

The Minister stated that over 25,000 illegal weapons have been collected nationwide, reinforcing the need for authorization to possess firearms. Governors were reminded of the importance of maintaining territorial integrity and unity, and preparations for upcoming elections were also addressed.
