Canada Allocates $11 Million for Battery Innovation Projects in Quebec
The Canadian government is investing over $11 million in three battery innovation projects to enhance the domestic battery supply chain. This initiative aims to bolster Canada's clean technology sector and create jobs while advancing the country's energy independence.

The Canadian federal government has announced an investment exceeding $11 million for three battery innovation projects in Quebec under Natural Resources Canada's Energy Innovation Program. The funding will support initiatives by Nano One Materials Corp., EcoPro Lithium Inc., and NanoXplore, focusing on advancements in battery materials critical for electric vehicles and energy storage systems.
Nano One will receive $4.3 million for lithium iron phosphate production, while EcoPro will receive $6 million for producing battery-grade lithium metal. NanoXplore's project will get nearly $700,000 for developing lithium-ion battery cells.
These projects aim to strengthen Canada's battery and critical minerals value chains and enhance domestic manufacturing capabilities, reducing reliance on foreign suppliers. The success of these initiatives could significantly impact Canada's position in the global clean technology market.
