Canadian Energy Metals Plans Major Alumina Project in Saskatchewan
Canadian Energy Metals is advancing Project Thor in Saskatchewan, aiming for 1.8 million tpy alumina production. The project could establish a key North American hub for alumina and aluminum, contingent on infrastructure development.

Canadian Energy Metals (CEM) is developing Project Thor in Saskatchewan, targeting an output of approximately 1.8 million tons per year of alumina from a significant alumina-bearing shale deposit. A pre-feasibility study is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026.
CEM is also assessing the feasibility of downstream aluminum smelting, which will necessitate considerable investments in power infrastructure. The successful execution of this project could position Saskatchewan as a central player in North America's aluminum supply chain, although meeting energy requirements remains a critical challenge.
