Candela and Canopy Power Partner for Floating Solar Charging of Electric Ferries in Asia-Pacific
Candela and Canopy Power have signed a memorandum of understanding to provide floating charging stations for electric hydrofoil ferries in the Asia-Pacific region. The partnership aims to create a fossil-free transport ecosystem for island resorts and coastal communities by integrating Candela's P-12 electric ferry with Canopy Power's microgrid solutions powered by Ocean Sun's floating solar technology.

Candela and Canopy Power have partnered to implement floating charging stations for electric hydrofoil ferries in the Asia-Pacific region. This collaboration aims to reduce reliance on diesel generators in remote islands by utilizing Ocean Sun’s floating solar technology to power Candela's P-12 vessels.
The P-12 ferry, which operates more efficiently than traditional hulls, will be charged using energy generated by the microgrids designed by Canopy Power. The initiative seeks to lower operational costs and carbon emissions while promoting a sustainable transport ecosystem. Both companies plan to engage stakeholders to demonstrate the benefits of this new water mobility solution.
