Cargas Investigates CNG Market Expansion in Nigeria
Cargas, Egypt's natural gas vehicle company, is exploring CNG infrastructure and vehicle conversion opportunities in Nigeria. This initiative aligns with Egypt's strategy to enhance regional cooperation and export expertise in cleaner transportation fuels.

A Cargas delegation visited Nigeria to explore opportunities for expanding compressed natural gas (CNG) utilization in the transportation sector. This visit, prompted by Egypt's Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation and support Nigeria's presidential CNG Initiative.
Meetings were conducted with various regulatory bodies, including the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority and the National Automotive Design and Development Council, to discuss infrastructure for retail stations and CNG conversion centers. Cargas, established in 1995, held a 41% market share in Egypt as of 2025. The collaboration could enhance CNG deployment in Nigeria, but success depends on effective partnership and technology transfer.
