Carpenters Union Acquires $52.5 Million Building at Philadelphia Navy Yard for New Headquarters and Training Centers
The Eastern Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters has acquired a $52.5 million building at the Philadelphia Navy Yard to serve as its new headquarters and training centers, following a 2.5-year search for a larger facility. The council plans to construct an additional training facility at the site, estimated to cost $30 million and take 24 months to complete, while also evaluating the future of its current Spring Garden location. This move aims to enhance accessibility for apprentices and accommodate up to 125 employees by the end of April.

The Eastern Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters purchased a building at the Philadelphia Navy Yard for $52.5 million, closing the deal on December 19. The council plans to relocate its headquarters and two training centers to this site, which was previously sold for $130.5 million in 2018.
The acquisition comes after a 2.5-year search for a new property due to outgrowing their current facility. Plans include constructing a new training facility next to the building, estimated to cost $30 million and take at least 24 months to complete.
The new location aims to improve accessibility for apprentices and is expected to accommodate up to 125 employees by the end of April. The council is also considering the future of its Spring Garden facility, including potential sale or redevelopment. This move follows the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 98's recent relocation to the Navy Yard.
