Chief Warrant Officer 5 Casey Akins has been appointed as the command chief warrant officer (CCWO) of the Nevada National Guard, effective in March. Currently, she commands Detachment 3, Company B, 2-641st Aviation and has served as a pilot for nine years.

Akins joined the U.S. Army in 2002, transitioning to the Nevada Army National Guard in 2011. She has deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan, and Africa and will assist Det. 45 OSA in its upcoming deployment to U.S.

Central Command. The previous CCWO, Nielsen, served for five years and will retire later this year.
