Cellcentric Appoints Kai Wörner as COO to Advance Fuel Cell Systems for Heavy-Duty Vehicles
Cellcentric has appointed Kai Wörner as Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Managing Director, effective January 2026. The fuel cell joint venture, owned equally by Daimler Truck and Volvo Group, aims to industrialize fuel cell systems for heavy-duty vehicles.
Wörner joins the management team alongside Nicholas Loughlan and Niklas Ekström, the Chief Financial Officer. He brings extensive experience from his previous role as COO EU/US at AESC, a supplier of high-performance batteries.
Cellcentric's goal is to become a leading global manufacturer of fuel cells and contribute to climate-neutral transportation by 2050. The leadership emphasizes the importance of Daimler and Volvo's innovation and financial strength, and the Stuttgart location's advantages for R&D.
