Century Aluminum Plans Major Expansion Project in Oklahoma with EGA Partnership
Century Aluminum is launching a major expansion project in Inola, Oklahoma, in partnership with Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) and U.S. Aluminum Company, aiming to double U.S. primary aluminum production. EGA will own a 60% stake in the new processing facility, set to begin construction in late 2026, with initial production expected before 2030. Additionally, Century Aluminum plans to achieve full production capacity at its Mt. Holly plant by Q2 2026 and restart Iceland's Grundartangi line 2 by April 2026.

Century Aluminum is undertaking a significant expansion to double primary aluminum production in the U.S. through a new processing facility in Inola, Oklahoma, in collaboration with Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) and U.S. Aluminum Company.
EGA will hold a 60% stake in the smelter project, while Century Aluminum will have 40%. The facility aims to secure critical supply chains for the defense and aerospace sectors. Construction is planned to start at the end of 2026, with initial production before 2030.
Concurrently, Century Aluminum expects full production capacity at its Mt. Holly plant by Q2 2026 and plans to restart Iceland's Grundartangi line 2 by April 2026, reaching near full capacity by July.
