Chakhroma Public Organisation Calls for Action Against Assam Rifles' Occupation of AAI Land in Dimapur
The Chakhroma Public Organisation (CPO) has called for urgent action regarding the illegal occupation of land belonging to the Airport Authority of India (AAI) by the Assam Rifles Training Centre (ARTC). The CPO claims to possess official records confirming that the Dimapur airfield was transferred to the AAI in 1987 by the Indian Air Force, establishing clear ownership.
Despite this, the ARTC continues to occupy the land, hindering the expansion of Dimapur Airport, which affects economic growth and infrastructure for the Naga people. The CPO criticized the ARTC for demanding compensation for abandoned structures and alleged bad faith in refusing to vacate the land despite alternative rehabilitation options. The CPO has appealed to the ARTC for cooperation to facilitate the airport expansion process and avoid further public discontent.
