Chander Kunj Apartment Owners Oppose AWHO's Move to Exit Tripartite Agreements for Demolition Project

DEFENSE

Residents of Chander Kunj Army Apartments are opposing the Army Welfare Housing Organisation's (AWHO) attempt to opt out of tripartite agreements related to the appointment of project management consultants and demolition contractors for the demolition and reconstruction of twin towers in Vytilla, Ernakulam. A meeting on February 18, 2026, led by the Fort Kochi Revenue Divisional Officer focused on compliance with the process.

AWHO's objection was met with strong resistance from the Chander Kunj Army Towers Apartment Owners Association (CATAOA). The meeting decided to refine Request for Proposal documents and issue global tenders on February 24. Disputes also arose over the requirement for green building standards and the inclusion of amenities like swimming pools.
