Chatham-Kent Council Approves Mixed-Use Development and Grants for Local Organizations

Chatham-Kent Council approved Main-Ridge Inc.'s request to redevelop the former Salvation Army Thrift Store into a mixed-use commercial and residential complex, with an estimated construction value of $1.3 million. The project will transform buildings at 14 and 18 Main Street, East, into three commercial units and nine residential units.

The council also supported 66 applicants through the 2026 Together CK Grant program, distributing $375,000 for community projects. Notable grants include $8,022 for the Ridgetown & District Horticultural Society and $20,022 for the Thamesville Threshing Festival Inc. The Together CK program has funded 443 events and 548 projects since its inception 25 years ago.
